What ward am I in?
Type a Chicago address in the box below, or use your location, and the board shows which ward it is in and who its alderperson is.
The match happens in your browser, so the address is not sent anywhere.
Location stays in your browser. Or just click a ward on the map.
Insights
More insightsData: October 2025 to September 2026. Snapshot October 24, 2026.
61.0 days
Typical wait for a sanitation complaint in Ward 24 (North Lawndale, South Lawndale). In Ward 43 (Lincoln Park): under a day.
How we got this
Typical (median) days to close a sanitation complaint: 61.0 in Ward 24 (North Lawndale, South Lawndale), 0.6 in Ward 43 (Lincoln Park), the slowest and fastest of 49 ranked wards. The gap is stated in days, not as a ratio.
67.6 days
Illegal dumping took longest to clear in Ward 27 (Near West Side, West Town).
How we got this
Median days from complaint to cleanup; Ward 27 is the highest of 43 ranked wards, and Ward 2 the lowest at 0.7.
1,597
Ward 13 (Clearing, Garfield Ridge) filed the most rat complaints in the city.
How we got this
Rat baiting requests per ward over the period, duplicates removed, counting open and closed requests alike.
Typical days = the middle request: half close faster, half slower. Closed in a week = the share shut within seven days. Requests still open count toward both. Click any ward for its full report card.

What’s on the board, and what isn’t
- The board tracks request types where a closure plausibly means work happened: a tow, a filled pothole, a baited alley. Informational calls and aircraft noise are off: the city logs those at its own buildings (the 311 call center in Ward 28, O’Hare in Ward 41), so they describe a facility, not a neighborhood.
- Some types close almost instantly citywide. We show them anyway, and say so on the board.
- Sidewalk repairs are ranked on what the city has not finished: it completes too few to time, and leaves about a third open. Every other type here closes eventually.
- Bike lane obstructions are off the board. There are about 630 a year across all 50 wards, far too few to compare wards on. Ward pages carry bike crashes and route mileage as context instead, never as a rank.
- Only 2024, 2025 and the rolling 12 months are offered: the ward map changed in May 2023, and comparing across it would compare different areas under the same ward numbers.
